We preserve breakfast tradition with marmalade award win!
The spyway inn, askerswell is being toasted for its success in the eighth world's original marmalade awards after winning a silver award.
The spyway inn received one of the marmalade world's most prestigious accolades for its spyway seville marmalade which it entered into the hotel and bed & brekfast category. It scored high marks for its appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour. The spyway inn makes its own marmalade to serve to guests and will now be on sale to customers.
Owner vivien wilkes said they were delighted to 'shred' the competition with their 'spyway seville marmalade' - made by spyway chef dave parkinson: "we're delighted to win this prestigious award. Our guests always say our marmalade is delicious and this is proof it is!"
There were over 1700 jars of marmalade from as far afield as australia and the philippines. Entries by both artisan and amateur makers were sent to the organiseers of the quirkily british awards, held at dalemain mansion in the lake district, for judging by a prestigious panel of marmalade experts.
